This beach is located on the largest artificial lake in Europe. Until 2012, this lake was an open-cast coal mine, which was converted into a lake as a solution for the conservation of the environment. This 400-metre long urban beach has cleaning and rescue services. It is suitable for nautical activities. There are two islands in the lake, one dedicated to bird watching and the other to Galician arboreal flora. The lake of As Pontes has a hiking/cycling route that runs around the perimeter of the lake. Through the Senda da Memoria we will discover the natural heritage and the living history of the municipality of As Pontes and its mine.
