Cedeira

This natural paradise features stunning cliffs, diverse wildlife, and a historic castle, offering breathtaking views and a rich cultural experience for visit...

Cedeira is a true natural paradise. The A Capelada mountain range and its impressive cliffs leave no one indifferent. A walk through A Capelada allows you to discover the fauna that inhabits the area, such as cows and horses that graze in the mountains and pastures. There are also more feral herds of goats. Although wildlife is more difficult to see, if you pay attention you will spot wild boar and foxes. In the Garita de Herbeira area, the peregrine falcon can usually be seen. From this viewpoint, there is a spectacular view over the highest cliffs in Europe, which drop steeply into the immense ocean. The magic of Cedeira is to be found in the sanctuary of San Andrés de Teixido, also in the sierra. The place, which offers marvellous views of the coast, is frequented by pilgrims, worshippers and tourists. In the town centre, a stroll through the narrow streets will reveal the remains of the wall that surrounded the old quarter. Its unique buildings, with glazed galleries, are privileged viewpoints overlooking the estuary. The Cedeira estuary is watched over by the Concepción castle. Built in 1747 on the site of an ancient castro, it was built to defend the town from attacks by sea. Nowadays, we can learn about its history in the Interpretation Centre that it houses inside. http://www.cedeira.es
