Ortigueira
Mountain, valley, river, sea and, above all, estuary. Ortigueira is a land of contrasts, with the highest peaks of the mountains of A Capelada and A Faladoira by the sea. The estuary of Ortigueira and Ladrido, for its fauna and flora, is one of the most important wetlands in Galicia. For the more adventurous, there are nine coastal and mountain routes throughout the municipality that allow you to enjoy the great natural and scenic wealth of the territory. However, Ortigueira is much more. For example, it is history and heritage. There are up to 14 forts here. Among them, the Punta dos Prados site stands out, a good example of a maritime fortified settlement. The town also conserves important examples of 19th century architecture, such as the Teatro da Beneficiencia (Theatre of Beneficence), the Convent (the seat of the Town Hall) and the church of Santa Marta. Every summer the town becomes the capital of Celtic music with the Ortigueira International Celtic World Festival. An event that brings together thousands of people from all over the world. http://www.concellodeortigueira.com
