Senra Tide Mill

Senra Tide Mill

This unique site blends history and nature, featuring a restored 1910 flour mill and a birdwatching area in a protected estuary, perfect for eco-tourism.

The historical-maritime interest and the natural interest merge in this recreational space, which is a museum in itself. After years of abandonment, the rehabilitation of the hydraulic power station, located at the foot of the Ría de Ortigueira, in the parish of Senra, recovers part of the local social and economic history. The visit is a journey back in time to learn about the technology and see how this 1910 flour mill, powered by the energy of the sea, works. Taking advantage of its location in the protected wetland of the Ortigueira-Ladrido estuary, the centre has an area reserved for bird watching, with specialised equipment. It is also the headquarters of the Calidris Ornithological Association.
