[1920] Eclecticism The Patiño brothers, originally from Cabanas and living in Havana, commissioned local architect Manuel Leira y Leira to modify their mother's house, which dated from 1889. It mixes regionalist and modernist elements. Highlights include a long wooden side gallery, with carefully designed carpentry, and the square, three-storey tower at the back, which ends with a balcony with wrought iron railings and profusely modulated, and with a four-sided Arab tile roof, topped by a slender metal spire that acts as a lightning rod.
