SAN JOSÉ CHURCH

SAN JOSÉ CHURCH

This neo-Gothic church features a striking façade and a bell tower, enriched by local patronage and a beautiful altar dedicated to the Virgin of Charity.

[1947] Historicism As stated on a plaque, the temple was promoted by José Andrés Vázquez, his wife Modesta Varela Grande and his daughter Dolores Andrés Varela de Veiga. It was partially financed by popular subscription, with the participation of Juan Varela Grande, a native of the same parish, who financed the altar with the Virgin of Charity, patron saint of Cuba. The neo-Gothic lines of the central body of the main façade stand out, topped by a bell tower with pinnacles.
