The heritage of Ferrolterra-Rías Altas preserves examples of human activity from bygone eras. During the Middle Ages, monasteries emerged as guardians of knowledge and wealth. Furthermore, the nobility left its mark, and castles and fortresses were built throughout the territory. An example of these buildings is the Caaveiro Monastery (10th century), located in a privileged location within the Fragas do Eume Natural Park. The Medieval Routes take us back to the Middle Ages and take us from A Capela to San Sadurniño and Moeche, discovering the cultural and architectural heritage along trails. Good examples are the Naraío Castle, a medieval fortress from the 15th century, and the Caaveiro Monastery.
